Level 2 Certified!
Well, I’ve been waiting to take the PSIA Level 2 Alpine exam for a while. We tried to have it at Cascade for 2 years but we didn’t have enough people so I went up to Marquette, MI at the end of the season and took it – and PASSED IT!
It’s a 3 day exam on the snow where both my teaching and skiing were evaluated by 3 different Examiners. There were 7 of us candidates in the group and 2 of us passed.
We had to give a different lesson each day and we were tested on benchmarks like pivot slips, railroad tracks, basic parallel skiing, one-legged skiing, garlands, and medium dynamic radius turns.
This picture is of me (on the left) and Jamie (right side – passing Level 3). We’re both from Cascade Mountain where we have excellent support and training.
What is Next?
Next on the agenda will be training for the Level 3 exam and then a few more courses and then on to trying out and joining PSIA Educational Staff. It may take some time but I plan on getting there!
